THE BISHOP AND THE CATHEDRAL.

A meeting of supporters of Bishop Cherrington in the Cathedral Parish was held last night. About 70 attended.
The Bishop, who is visiting Taranaki, wrote renewing the suggestion that lie might move the centre of the diocese to another parish. “I think it ought to he made quite clear whether the people of Hamilton wish St. Peter’s to remain the Cathedral or not.” he said. “I thought the last meeting had done so. hut apparently people think otherwise. It does seem, to me that if St. Peter’s is to remain the Cathedral and he efficient as such the Bishop’s hell) and presence should he demanded, and welcomed as often as he is able to give it.” One sneaker said that the Bishop had l>een virtually kept out of the Cathedral, except when lie could demand to be there.
The meeting chose nominees for the Cathedral office. The parishioners meet next Wednesday.
