AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICTURES.

LOVE AND LAUGHS IN “CIRCUS

ROOKIES” TO-NIGHT.

All the world loves to laugh—and all the world loves a love story. Wherefore in “ Circus Rookies,” the new costarring effort of Karl Dane and Tv. Arthur, those redoubtable heroes of “Rookies” and “Baby Mine,” a picture has been achieved that everyone will most certainly enjoy. It has all the hilarious comedy in the world—plus a pretty romance, and the result is a tingling cocktail of entertainment. The new Metro-Gold-wyn-Maver production, which opened at the Princess Theatre to-night, introduces Dane as a rouseabout who gets a job as an animal trainer, while Arthur plays the role of a cub reporter. Thrills and laughs are excitingly combined,' when a huge gorilla chases the heroes over a careering circus train, when Arthur gets tangled up with a trapeze, and on many other hilarious occasions. A complete circus was built, and a whole performance was staged for “ Circus Rookies,” so picturegrters get this entertainment along with the rest of the fun. Louise Lorraine makes a charming leading lady in the role of a nimble trapeze performer, while Sydney Jarvis and Fred Humes are included in the cast. Edward-Sedgwick, the director, of “Slide, Kelly, Slide,” and other successes, directed the new picture, and there is not a dull moment from beginning to end.

The usual supports will also be shown, including “ Blake of Scotland Yard ” serial. When millions multiply in pounds from pence, Good Fortune heeds the balance of good sense ; Vulgarity delights in wild display, Until the loss of vigor brings dismay. An upstart wastrel curst not blest with wealth, In frantic follies stultifies bis health, For coughs and colds the poorest ease assure With Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure.
