FEMALE BIGAMIST
FIRST HUSBAND A DRUNKARD

WELLINGTON, April 10
A woman, aged ‘29, whose name was suppressed, admitted a charge of bigamy, and was committed to the Supreme Court tor sentence. Accused’s second husband said lie had married her at Wellington in November, 1926, having known her six months as a single woman. , About three months alter the marriage accused told him that she was married to another man whom she had not seen for a number ol years. there ns one child horn in February last. j Witness stated that he had been •very happ.v with the accused, and intended to obtain a divorce between accused and her first husband, and* then , go through a proper marriage with her. ( Accused had told him her husband was a drunkard and she had to leave him four times on account of Ins drinking habits. Counsel for accused said that accused’s husband was at presnt serving a term of imprisonment. She was allowed hail. Counsel, on asking that her name he suppressed, said the man with whom she was at present living, came from a very old Wellington family, and though he had nothing to do with the offence, he would suffer for it.
