PETROL TAX REFUNDS
REGULATIONS ALTERED. Amendments to the regulations issued last year relating to refunds of petrol tax are published in the “Gazette.” It is prescribed that not more than one application may be made by any one person in respect of motor spirits consumed during a quarterly period. Claims not lodged within one month after the close of a quarterly period will not be recognised. Every application must be accompanied by an invoice as proof of purchase of the motor spirits, but the Registrar of Motor Vehicles may require further evidence to he called relating to the purchase of the petrol. The application forms have been redrafted and a special declaration is lequired to he made lor claims arising out of the use. of agricultural tractors and vehicles employed exclusively by local authorities for the maintenance and construction of roads and streets. Applicants are alsq required to indicate what private vehicles they- use. Threshing machines no longer specifically, appear in the exemption list.
