“ CIRCUS ROOK IKS » FRI DAY. II you’vo carried water for tlic elephauts or cleaned your father's hoots to win your way under the “ big tent ” —or il your memory of glamorous circus days is simply that of a delighted spectator—then come prepared to enjoy the greatest aggregate of, long, fond, lingering laughs—at the expense of the funniest clowns on the screen— Karl Dane and George K. Arthur. “Circus Rookies” is the title of this hilarious comedy team’s latest Mctro-Goldwyn-Mayer co-starring vehicle, which comes to the Princess Theatre on Friday. With Dane in the role of a gorilla trainer, and Arthur appearing as a perky cub reporter, the heroes of “Rookies” and “Baby Mine” are a positive circus in themselves. From opening scene to final fade-out, the picture moves with lightning speed, and comic adventures and thrills crowd each other to a breathless climax. “Circus Rookies” was directed by Edward Sedgwick, who was responsible for “Slide, Kelly, Slide” and many other successful motion pictures. With his unusual deft skill he has managed to combine a little romance and ninny amazing and comical happenings with excellent results. Louis Lorraine plays the leading feminine role, and appears as a charming little trapeze artiste, while Sydney Jarvis and Fred Humes are included in the supporting’ cast. The usual supports will also he shown including further chapters of “Blake of Scotland Yard ” serial.
