Every pi'ecaution is l>t_‘iiijr taken to ore vent an outbreak of disease, following; the devastating floods. Some suburbs are still inundated. Boats of ail descriptions are paddled along the flooded streets.
The flood is responsible for thousands of deaths of fowls and ducks, as well as cats, dogs and cattle. Many bodies of animals floated into houses and permission must he obtained from the Health Officer before people can regain their premises.
