WEST COAST RUGBY UNION.

The annual meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union was held at Greymouth last evening. In the course of the annual report the President stated: —ln presenting the annual report ifor the 1928 season, your Executive wishes to congratulate Clubs on the improved standard ol play and the general conduct of players throughout the season. The number of players is on the increase, and with the advent of several new teams, the problem of providing sufficient playing areas is becoming a difficult one. The senior competition proved very interesting, Excelsiors being the winners of the McKechnie Cup, and also showing their consistency by carrying off the Knock-out competition 'for the Citizens Shield.

Inter-Union Games.—Your Union again challenged Nelson for the Seddon Shield, and although unsuccessful, put up a very creditable performance. The annual home and home matches with Buller left honours even, your representatives retaining the Rundle Cup. On return from Buller a game was played against lnan'gahua Sub-Union, and won by the Coast team. A visit was received from a Southland SubUnions representative team, and after one of the finest games seen on the Park for many seasons, ended in a draw. A Canterbury “B” team was met at Hokitika, the visitors being

successful. Sub-Union Games.—Westland and Grey representsives met twice during the season, the former being winners ton both occasions.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr A. A. Adams (re-elected); Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. Guy, A. White, T. Mclntosh; Treasurer. Mr J. Kyle; Secretary, Mr N. W. Jones,

Nominations were received as follows:—Seniors: Brunner, Stars, United, Magpies, Blaketown, Kiwis, Kanieri, Excelsiors, Kokatahi. It was agreed to open the season on Saturday, April 20th.
