AUCKLAND YOUTHS FfXm AUCKLAND, April 5. A r|uict name of pokor in a street in Free in ail’s Hav recently resulted in three youths being charged at the Police Court this morning with gaming with cards.
'l'lie three youths, said Sub-Inspector McCarthy, were having a game of poker in a quiet street in Freeman's Hav on a recent Sunday. ‘‘ It is not a heinous offence, but the police are anxious to stop it in the public streets in this locality,” said Mr McCarthy. Mr Sullivan, who represented the card players, advanced pleas o'l guilty in each case. Public games are forbidden on Sundays, so what are these young men to do?” said Mr Sullivan. “ Good healthy games should lie allowed after Church on Sundays. ■'hose youths are all hard workers who have never been in trouble before..” A. fine of £1 and 10s costs was mi posed m each case.
