SAVINGS BANK DEFRAUDED

YOUTHS ARRESTED IN AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, April 5.

It was recently discovered by the Whangarei Post Office Savings Rank officials that six sums of money totalling £lO had been drawn from the account of a Whangarei Lodge by means of forged withdrawal slips. The matter was reported to the police and yesterday Detective Knight ,of Auckland, arrested a youth of 1(5 in the City in connection with the matter. The signature forged in each case was that of a trustee.

This morning accused appeared before Mr Cutten, S.M., in the .Magistrate’s Room charged with stealing £lO belonging to the Post Office Savings Rank at Whangarei and seven charges of making false withdrawal slips. It was stated that accused had made a statement admitting the offences. He was remanded to appear at the next sitting of the Children s Court.
