The Autumn meeting was continued at Hand wick on .Monday in ideal weather on an excellent track. The attendance was 78,000. New Zealand’s representative Paquito 'followed Saturday’s success with a smart win in the Local Handicap. Wentworth Handicap. Dreamdale and Malayan, dead heat, 1, Palmdale 3. Twenty started. They won by a length. Time 1.14. Local Cup Handicap.—Paquito 1, Waipori 2, Coloured 3. Thirteen started. Won comfortably by a length. Time 2.4 3-4.
Flying Handicap.—Margaret Hal 1, King’s Anns 2, ltaisin 3. Fifteen started. Won by a head, 'lime 1.2. Easter Stakes.— Carradale 1, Sir* Eibble 2, Pentbeus 3. Eleven started. Won by half a bead. Time 1.26-’. First Steeplechase.—Poviser l.Cliandonia 2, Tuki 3. Nine Parted. Won comfortably by twenty len, tbs. Time 4.31-3. Sydney Cup.—Curcis 1, Padc’i Eve 2, Kilaides 3. Twenty-one started At the half mile the field dosed on d' -dc Duchess, Paddi Eve, Crucis and Loq cious leading the division. Turning home Duchess had a slight advantage of Crucis and Kidaides, but Crucis cleared away from the field at the distance and won with ease by four lengths. Time 3.231. WILLIAMSTOWN CEP. The contest is arousing interest, while the merits ol Holdfast and Honour, who try conclusions in the Champagne Stakes are causing equally earnest discussion. YEARLING SALES. SYDNEY, April 3. At the opening of the yearling sales at Handwick bidding was quiet and top nr ice. 3600 guineas, was paid by the New Zealander, C. Elgar, for a Hossendale-Demerter colt. A Spear-head-Battery Queen colt already named Vagabond King, fetched 1350 guineas, going to the Victorian. F Musgrove. Other New Zealand buyers were R. U Caro, Polycrates-Blaek Tea iiTTy, 9" 1 guineas; Eaton Lad-Sidorus gelding, 40 guineas; Beaufoi't-Lady Sindlia • colt, 45 guineas. <T. W.
