We used to sa> an Anglo-German war was unthinkable and moreover we have already fought America twice and another Anglo-American war will come if matters are allowed to drift as at present. T was dismayed at many things I heard and read concerning America’s intention and readiness to proceed to extremities against Britain. Athough there are more idealists in America than in any other part or the world except. Britain, there- is an element which hates Britain am would welcome the thought ot attack \nother element does not paiticularly want war but is fully determined that America shall ,:t T ,a ‘e Britain as mistress of the seas. 10 > are strong enough to succeed, because they have money, while Britain has not We must be determined. no matter under what circumstances, not to draw sword against Americans Let them say and do. Let them build what they like and let us go to arbitration a thousand times and lose rather than fight. Ultimately spiritual forces will be uppermost.
