Barker was committed for trial For perjury and allowed bail. Slic fainted in the court when the magistrate announced the decision. I.ho court was crowded with women, the majority being in their early twenties. 'lhe principal witness was -Miss Howard, whom Barker allegedly married. Her appearance deeply aflected the delendaut who was convulsed with sobs. .Miss Howard swore she believed Barker "as a man.
