IN WELL LnOVT.V PROPERTY. 9 ~ 'By Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, March 27. The biggest property deal in the ins- A tory of this city was completed to-day. It is understood that the total amount involved is about three-quarters of million. .The building and the land involved i.s the triangular block at the V corner of High Street and Lichfield « Street, occupied hv Messrs AY. Strange and Coy. retailers of drapery, hardware, books and furniture, one oftfc^ Icggest retail firms in the city. The land and buildings have been bought by a syndicate, the members of which are not disclosed. It is believed that two of the leading members are Mr T. Armstrong, the head of another big city drapery house, and Mr AY. Machine, the Manager of the Farmers’ Co-op. The stock-in-trade of Strange’s has been bought by the Farmers’ Co-op. The amount paid for the stock is included in the total of £750.000. The land i.s three-quarters of an acre in area, and is covered by three-storey buildings.
