MURDER RATIO
DOUBLE IN 28 YEARS

NEW YORK, March 11. One of the largest life insnra n-e companies in New York has published the homicide statistics for the conntry, showing that the murder rate lor one hundred thousand of the population of the United States has doubled since 1900. Detroit, with 228 dead, and a rate of 16.5 per 100.000 led the country, while Chicago with 498 dead, had the largest total, and a rate cf 15.8 per 100,000. New York with 401 |i-/ dead had a rate of (5.7 per 100,000.
