LATE MR JUSTICE HIGGINS
BEQUEST TO HUSH ACADEMY

Probate is being sought for the will of the late Mr Justice Higgins, of the High Court of Australia, whose estate is valued at £69,000, including assets in New Zealand. The testator directed that £2(),(K)() he paid to the Royal Irish Academy towards t'he cost of publication of Irish manuscripts for research work dealing with Irish literature, language, archaeology and folk lore and for scholarships. A message from London says that the Fellows of the Royal Irish Academy are delighted with Mr Justice Higgins’ bequest. which is most opportune, as they are a.t present extending their library and are, at considerable cost, photographing the celebrated Milan Codex. COCAINE DEALER, (Received this day at 8.30. a.m.) SYDNEY. A!arch 14. Harry Newman, aged 37, was sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labour and was also fined £2OO, in default two months, for having cocaine in his possession. A remarkable allegation was made by Detective Wickham to the effect that accused ./‘suggested, that with Wickham’s help he could corner (Tie drug market, and within two years Wickham could retire.
GARAGE THEFT
SYDNEY, March 14
Two armed masked men entered a garage in the city last night and held up Charles Daniels, who was in charge and made him show them where the money was kept. After rifling the till they disappeared in a car which was afterwards found to have been stolen.
SKELETON FOUND. SYDNEY, March 14
The skeleton of a child of eight 'or nine years of age was discovered by a Council employee buried in sand at Sandringham. The appearance -of the bones indicated it had been buried in the sand for years.

A Cairns message states that heavy rains arc causing the rivers to rise again. The water is seven feet over Turley Bridge and Herbert river is rising rapidly. It is impossible to get trains through between Cairns and Townsville. Seven and a-half inches fell at Tulley yesterday.
James Watson was swept from a horse and drowned.
N.S.W. ASSEMBLY REFORM. SYDNEY, March 14
A Bill to provide the Legislative Council shall not be abolished or its powers altered without a refeienduin of the people was read a third time in the Legislative Assembly to-night. Premier Bavin announced the Government intended to reform the Lppet House, placing it on an elective basis, which means that members of that Chamber will be, paid later on.
