At Newcastle, the inquiry was con- i tiiiued into the death of the girl Hilda ] Johnson (who on December 131 i died i of poisoning and whose inquest was recently adjourned when Detective A.yan said lie had gathered evidence 1 that a young man named Harold Ferris i gave chocolates to the girl and to two i telegraph messengers the same day as \ u»e girl was poisoned, and told them ( the chocolates had been in a pocket where he had had poison). Henry Lord, a storekeeper, gave evidence that Harold Ferris was employed by him Ferris had access to a drawer where' strychnine was kept for killing f rats. ’ The coroner, after hearing other witnesses, returned an open verdict. 1 B—M——i— il
