U.S.A. LEA DKR’S OPINION. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyngnt). WASHINGTON, March 12. Chainnaii Britten, of tlic U.S.A. House Naval Committee. stated that the British Naval budget, in his opinion, indicated that Great Britain proposed to maintain a navy equal to the combined forces of all of the other nations, instead of pursuing the present policy of having a navy equal to any two nations. With the presentation of Britain’s annual naval appropriation bill, he said: “It is quite evident that all of the talk bv high-rank-' ing British statesmen that Great Britain is slowing up her warship building is only a bait for the American internationalists and pacifists.” CANADIAN BUDGET DEBATE. OTTAWA, AI arch 12. At the Budget debate, -I. F. Pouliot (Liberal) said the Australian, Treaty had not injured the dairying province of Quebec. H. B. Hanson (Conservative) favoured trade within the Empire so long as it did not involve the sacrifice of any Canadian industry such as occurred .with the favouring of New Zealand butter.
