Mr T). McPougall, M.P. for Gore was the bright spark at the Municipal Conference. Speaking of municipal election, he stated that they had three classes of electors, namely: “Gold Tops,” those who sit and flap their leg' s under a desk, scheming and conspiiiug to make a living, and thirdly honest toilers. When a representative of the latter came out for municipal honours the two former classes let the electors know whether he had been baptised and vaccinated, or whether his father was hanged for sheep stealing in Scotland. Mr McDougall also said he hoped some notice would he taken of remits passed by the conference. “When a dog on the chain harks, you take no seawards, this paricular fish may he takes the behind out of your breeches you soon take notice.”
