On Saturday last, a match tvas played between the Hokitika Club’s B team and the Kokatahi Club resulting in a win for Hokitika by 15 matches to 9. Following are the details of play, Hokitika being mentioned firsts— Ladies Singles : Miss Reid lost to Miss Higgins 5—6; Mrs Baird lost to Mrs Ecclesfield 2—6; Miss Stevenson lost to Miss Monk 3—6; Miss Urquhart beat Mrs Higgins 6—2; Miss Knight beat Miss Johnston 6—-0; Miss Davidson heat Miss Kelly 6—5. Ladies Doubles Miss Reid and Mrs Baird lost to Mjss Higgins and Mrs Ecclesfield 5—6; Misses Stevenson and Urquhart lost to Miss Mbnk and Mrs Higgins 5—6; Misses Knight and Davidson beat Misses Johnston and Kelly 6—o. Men’s Singles: Guthrey lost to Higgins 7—9; Feast beat Higgins (junrl) 9—2; Macfarlane beat Ecclesfield 9—7; Williamson lost to Cutler 5—9; Perry beat Morel 9—7; Mclntosh heat Pawson 9—6.
Men’s Doubles: Guthrey and Feast beat Higgings and Higgins 9—7; Macfarlane and Williamson heat Ecclesfield and Cutler 9—6; Perry and Mclntosh beat Morel and Pawson 9—3.
Combined Doubles; Guthrey and Miss Reid heat Higgins and Miss Higgins 9 —2; Feast and Mrs Baird lost to K. Higgins and Mrs Ecclesfield 7 Macfarlane and Miss Stevenson lost to Ecclesfield and Miss Monk 8 — 9; Williamson and Miss Urquhart beat Cutler and Mrs Higgins 9—7; Perry and Miss Knight heat MoreL and Miss Johnston 9—3; Mclntosh and Miss Davidson heat Pawson and Miss Kelly 9—2. Members 'of the Hokitika Club are reminded of the Handicap Singles competitions now in progress for trophies presented by Dr Baird ies) and Dr Teichelmann (men). The draw is posted in the pavilion and all matches in the first round unplayed by Saturday next, 16th inst., will be scratched.
