AUCKLAND. -March 0
Australia imports more whisky than any other country in the world. Mr A. O. MacGillyeiuldy, of London, the Australian representative for Messrs Robert McNisli and Co., Ltd., who arrived on the Matnroa this morning, staled that the quantity of whisky being exported to Australia was increasing annually and the Commonwealth was regarded by the great London houses as the best overseas buyer. Whisky manufacturers have realised that tlie overseas market can be increased by attention to personal connexions. and Mr MacGillyeiuldy says that most firms are appointing special overseas representatives to study colonial needs.
“England is still a great beer drinking country,” said Mr MacGillyeiuldy. “The Englishmen sticks to his beer and will not change his drink tor whisky, despite the fact that whisky is a much more popular drink than it was a generation ago.” Mr MacGillyeiuldy, who is accompanied by- his wife, will leave foi orist church to-night. After two months in New Zealand he will leave for Australia.
