AVIATION IN SOUTH ISLAND

'WELLINGTON, March 7

The Hon T. M. Wilford, as a Wellingon Minister, has not made any tours of the Dominion since his appointment, but there are imperative calls for him in various parts of New Zealand in connection with defence and prison questions. He will leave on 1 riday night on his first tour since his appointment, and at Blenheim on Saturday will receive from Mr Walter Imrle, the New. Zealand representative of ° Sir Charles AVakefiekl, the Moth aeroplane which the latter has pro--ciitcd to the New Zealand Government. The Minister will then hand !he machine to the Marlborugh Aviation Club, which will entertain him to luncheon. Ho will be in Christchurch on Mon-; day, spending a busy day at Sockburn Aerodrome .inspecting the Burnham mobilisation centre, Paparua and Addington prisons, and Red cliffs idle range. The Minister’s plans are not completed in detail for further dates, but he intends during the coming week to investigate the possibilities of an aviation landing ground at Gamaru. and attend to similar business at Green Island. Dunedin. Cabinet having authorised .substantial expenditure for the extension of the Borstal Institution at Invercargill, Air AVilford intends to visit it before returning north.
