UNOFFICIAL RACE CARDS. ]By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] WANGANUI, March 4. Alfred Archibald Willis, of A. D. Will is, Ltd., printers, as the sequel to the printing of an unofficial race book on tbe eve of the second day of tbe recent Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting of which several thousands were uisposed of, was charged to-day with printing , a document purporting to be the programme of the Club, without having a license from the Jockey Club. The information was laid under Section 37 of the Police Offences Act, 1927.
Defendant pleaded guilty and pleaded that he was unaware he was coin-, mittiug a breach. He did so openly, purely to satisfy a demand from the sporting public, as the official book, which was printed at Palmerston, would not lie available until the following morning.
Magistrate Salmon - accepted the excuse of ignorance and referred to the past reputation of the firm and inflicted a nominal penalty Of £3 with costs.
Harry Granville, a news vendor, lor selling, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s.
