Victoria and possibly British Columbia is giving preference to Australian lines, through the Government laying down such a policy lor the lumber hoard, is being discussed unoiliciallv here. It is pointed out the prov:uce is facing possibly a loss of the United States lumber markets through the tariff barrier, and Australia might reciprocate in the matter of lumber by a return of wine preference. Colonel Nelson Spencer, a Vancouver member, discussing the proposition said it would not only Ik? a consistent policy of trading within the Empire, hut sound business to buy the bulk of the provinces wine from Australia.
