In the Commons, replying to Mr Hayes, Sir Joynson Hicks announced ex-Sergeant Josling would receive £lsjoo compensation and in addition the records would be amended to show he had voluntarily resigned, without reflection on his character. On behalf of the House he wished Josling success in his present career. (Cheers). Arising from Friday’s incident Miss Wilkinson expressed regret that she had made criticism outside the House instead of according to the established custom. Grotrians motion was therefore withdrawn. Mr Baldwin told a questioner tnav all aspects df the protection of civilians against gas attacks in future warfare were being studied. Further research was necessary before communicating the scheme to municipalities.
