A Bow Street magistrate decided that the “Sleeveless Errand” was obscene and ordered the destruction of all printed copies. The Public Pro, sceutor declared this hook of 239 pages covering a period of two days, was too odd It is in ' the form of conversations by persons entirely devoid »■ decency, and morality. Blasphemy i' freely indulged in by all characters, , and filthy language and indecent situations arc the whole keynote. It is | amazing that such a. collection of degrading muck should he printed hv any firm. The defending counsel said Partridge read the manuscript personally. It was also well com mended on by a wellknown reader. He admitted it included horrible tilings, but the intention was to mirror the life, language ano habits of a certain section. Mrs .Tallies was present throughout ine hearing.
