LOST IN ROSS SEA

A WHALE CHASER. By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 4. Word was received by wireless this morning of the loss of the whale chaser Pagadroma. in the Ross Sea. From themeagre details contained in the message, it is gathered that the vessel was crushed in the ice during a voyage of approximately 500 miles through’ an ice-covered area, and sank. The wireless message merely stated that the ship had been abandoned, and that the crew had been taken off safely. The Pagadroma was one of the six chasers attached to the Norwegian factory ship, C. A. Larsen,;which is now returning from Ross Sea. She was a vessel of 95 tons, and had been specially built in Norway for work in thet ice.
