THE NAVAL VISIT
It seems to be assured now that the
Naval Visit for H.ALS. Dunedin and 1 Diomede to Hokitika, will next Friday. About 200 men are expected ,and a programnm for . the day Avill be adopted finally at: a- meeting at the County ht $ o’clock to-morrow evening. ' ' 1 • V
As far as can be gleaned, the visitors will leave Greymouth for Hokitika about 10 o’clock, and Avill be due’’hero shortly after 11 o’clock. It. is proposed to march the visitors to Cass Square, where they Avill be accorded a public reception. The ladies are undertaking to provide a picnic lunch for the men, and, later in the day, an afternoon tea. Sports and games Avill folloav, the events to be decided to-mor-row night. With the assistance of the members of the Automobile Association it is hoped to be able to send some of the party to Lake Ivanieri. Those avlio will be prepared to place cars at the disposal of the visitors are desired to notify the secretary of the Automobile Association. Mr D. J. Evans, a member of the Navy League, is receiving, donations towards the cost of-defraying the expense to be incurred in entertaining the visitors, and has the preliminary arrangements tor the visit Avell in hand.
