A DAILY MESSAGE

Bfc ON GOOD TERMS WITH YOURSELF! Don’t go looking for worlds to conquer. Alexander thought that was his business, and conquered more worlds than you can ever hope to do; but it did not make him happy—he died sighing for more. There is only one world worth conquering, and that is the world within, your own world. That was the one world Alexander did not conquer, and that is why he died sighing. And don’t go looking about for a public to please. There is only one audience in this world worth pleasing; and that is your other self—that higher- self which weighs your every impulse, thought, and deed without fear, favour or fickleness, and is the only public opinion which any man can rely upon. Don’t go round looking if or friendly company. Keep friendly with your conscience; a friendly conscience is the friendliest company any fellow can ever know. If you have learned to conquer the world within, and to satisfy your other self, and have kept company with yo n conscience all the way through life, yon will not die sighing; you will face west with a smile as the sun goes down. —M. Pit HSTON STANLEY.
