BRITAIN’S BUDGET
(United Press Association—By Electric Teleg. -ph—Copyright). LONDON, Feb. 2G. The prelude to the Budget proves to be disturbing. The estimates come as a shock to those who have been ■relying -on -drastic economies. It would appear that Air Churchill will have to have a budget even of greater proportions than the one ot eight hundred and thirty millions of last year. Much of the increase is due to the special grants made under the. rating reforms scheme just passed. For instance, there are grants of twelve millions to the rating authorities of England and Wales, one million two hundred thousand to the rating authorities of Scotland, and £2,333,000 in railway freight rebates. Even apart from these items the estimates show a slight advance upon those of last year. There are a few economies in certain departments. These are more than counterbalanced by the demands for others. Notable increases in the estum-' ar«: Health £4.54,000; educating £434,000; agriculture £82(5,000; old age pensions £1.297.000. Decreases are: Alinstrv of Pensions £3.492.000. and the beet sugar subsidy £1.250,00 £
