A TRIBUTE
TO HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE
In the course of his address to the U.F.B.A. Conference this morning Inspector Hugo referred to the Hokitika hire Brigade. He said he had lieaid some criticisms of the Hokitika Brigade appliances, lie said the appliances were not so uptodate as they mighthe, but the reason for that was that the organisation and system was so thorough and efficient. That was the reason why a motor was not necessary. They Imd five fire stations each with a foreman and squad. -As a proof or their efficiency he repented the remarKmadc yesterday that lor 22 ye.us <i fiie had not got out of the building in Hokitika in which it had started. Times have changed \ and probably within a very short time they would have n motor.
