LONDON, February 21
The “ Daily News ” Home special correspondent states: —The special Fascist autocracy is more firmly established and more disliked than at any time since the famous march on Rome. The chief source of the strength of the Blackshirt Militia has reached a high pitch of efficiency. There are twentyfive thousand officers and three hundred thousand men. who efficiently ensured the safety of Fascism. ftalv has no alternative but to acquiesce. Yet, except from., the professional Fascists, this acquiescence is reluctant, and is morally valuelesss. People resent constant ‘ pressure to make them live in accordance with Fascist principles. The muzzling of the press is the biggest blunder the regime has made, because there is now universal disbelief in Italy of anything Fascist, People feel that Fascism has not delivered the goods, and that despotism in the twentieth century has not proved practicable. However, it is clear that Duce .Mussolini will remain Italy’s iin r cballenged master as long as he desires.
