AMUSEMENTS.

. EVERYBODY* PICTUREB.

“ THE DIVINE WOMAN ” TO-NIGHT.

One. of the reasons for the success of “ The Divine Woman,” the new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture starring Greta Garbo and to be shown at- the Princess Theatre to-night, is the exceptionally fine cast that has been assembled in support of the famous Swedish star.

In fact, each and every player is of

sufficient individual worth to warrant the success of any motion picture. There is Lars Hanson in the leading male r6le, who recently scored an outstanding success in Lillian Gish’s “ Thd Scarlet Letter,” and also with John Gilbert and’ Greta Garbo in “ Flesh and the Devil.” There is Dorothy Gumming iff the role of a Parisian demimondainr who recently played the role ctf the Madonna in'- “'The King of Kings.” Polly Moran, the inimitable comedienne of “Buttons” and other Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer pictures, plays another eccentric role, while Lowell Sherman, one of the 1 screen’s best known portrayers of suave character , roles, is seen as the manager 0f.,.a

l Parisian theatre. Johnny Mack Brown, "who created such a favourable impression in Marion Davies “The Fair Coed,” and Paulette Duval, a graduate at the Follies Bergere, are .also to be seen in important parts.. “ The Divine Woman ” is a veritable page from life, being, based on the life, of, the immortal actress, Sarah Bernhardt. A topical and comedy will also be shown.
