SIR CHARLES SKERRETT
A TRIBUTE

Evidence of the high esteem in which Sir Charles Skcrrett was held by tlio Supreme Court Bench was shown today, when Bench and Bar joined in a Supreme Court function to-day. On the Bench were Justices Hordinnn, Chapman and Frazer, and among those present were Sir F. 1). Bell, hair (Soli oitor-Gencral), Gray (President of New Zealand Law Society), Sir J. Findlay. .Messrs Myers, Treadwell. Johnston (President of the Wellington Law Society). White (vice-Presidcnt), magistrates, Under-Secretary of Justice, and others.
In the absence off the Attorney-Gen end. who, he said, desired to express his deep regret at being unable to ho present. Sir F. D. Bell spoke first, highly eulogising Sir Charles Sxorrett not only as a. judge and advocate, but as one who bad made his mark as a private citizen. They had learned his value at work and play, and the loss was very heavy. Gray, Johnston. Herd man followed, and the court adjourned.
