* EVERYBODY® PICTURES. ** GUN GOSPEL TO-NIGHT. One of the fastest, most dramatic, Tind powerful Western pictures to be shown in. many , a day—that is “ Gun Gospel,” starring that most magnetic and popular of all Western stars, Ken Maynard. It is a First National Pierre and was produced by Charles R. *logers, Maynard.has no superior when at comes to riding, but in his latest offering he surpasses anything h© has done in the past. His daring as a has won him the acclaim of alt motion picture fans, but he is a star who is never content with, past performances, and he is constantly devising new hair-raisers with the assistance of his equine pal, Tarzan. Never have we seen him undertake such dangerous stunts as he essays in/“Gun Gospel.” He swings from the saddle to the ground and back again while going at a full gallop; he rides underneath Tarzan, and, most spectacular of all, he deliberately trips the horse while going down a steep mountainside. “ Gun Gospel,” which whs written by W. D. Hoffman, is one of the most popular Western stories ever written, n„nd it possesses an unusually powerful the old-time Western two-gun man and the establishment of law and order in a new country. In the role of Granger Hume Maynard demonstrates that lie iH not only a horseman of rare ability, but an able actor. He handles with equal skill his widely diversified parts, first as a cowboy, then as a Mexican caballero and finally as a minister who breaks up a gang of crooks. Harry J. Brown, the director, has shown a fine restraint in handling the story. He has maintained an even, fast-moving tempo that keeps one on the edge of his seat and evokes cheers from adult as well as juvenile spectators. The scenic effects, as usual in a Maynard picture, are marvellously beautiful. Virginia Brown Fa ire is the star’s leading woman, and the notable cast includes Nnn'i Young, J. P. McGowan, \Bcftn Fel,mining, Romaine Fielding, —y>Hm Whitaker, .Terry Madden, and, Inst, but not least, Tarzan, the. wonder horse. Gun Gospel ” has received unqualified endorsement. Further chapters of “ Blake of Scotland Yard ” (serial).
