FEROCIOUS SHARKS
ANOTHER RATHER MANGLED
Vustralian Press Assn.—United Service
SYDNEY. February 18
Alan Butcher, aged 20, was bathing with four others at Maroubra this afternoon when he was attacked by a shark, which tore the flesh from his side and buttocks. He cried for help and his companions, on a timely wave, brought him safely to shore. He is suffering from shock and loss df blood. A serious example of the ferociousness of sharks was witnessed to-day. Three monsters at Deewliy, six miles north of Sydney, came within ten feet of the beach, and they greedily snapped pieces ol flesh out oi a whale which was stranded on the foreshore, and was tethered awaiting transference to the Zoological Gardens. Resourceful fishermen, caught one of Lhe sharks, which was placed in a canvas tank, and taken to the zoo.
