LIQUOR WAR
POLICE APPEAL TO CITIZENS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegi aph—Copyright). (Received this day at 8 a.m.) CHICAGO, Fob. 16. The “Daily News” declares its ieporters found Valentine’s Day killing of seven was the result of a gigantic war involving millions of dollars between Canadian distilleries, which kept representatives in Chicago, and other American cities. Tlie News adds that an execution squad that lined the men against that garage wall consisted of imported members of a purple gang from Detroit. Police Commissioner William Russell made a remarkable appeal to-night to citizens of Chicago—Forego vour liquor in the interests of your city. We may not find the gangsters in Thursday's massacre, but help us to prc\ent future outbreaks, declared Russell, adding that the cause of this curse on Chicago is liquor and the rich rewards that flow to 'violators. If the people will only cease drinking liquor, the racket will cease to pay big money, and hoodlums, will quit killing each other over liquor rights.
