WESTLAND RACING CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING. The Committee of the above Club met at 8.15 o’clock last evening at the Club Rooms, Hamilton Street. Present: Messrs F. McGregor, (voted to the chair), Van-all, Houston, Neville, Whiilcy, Rutland, Sellers, Parry, McIntosh, Peake and Evans. An apology lor absence was received from Mr W. E. Williams (President). The. minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. The Treasurer reported that about £BOO had been paid out on account of the removal of the stand and its enlargement, together with furniture, fittings etc. There was a liability remaining of about £250. An amount had also been paid off the debenture debt and advances totalling in all £940, and interest to the amount of £238 had been paid. The bank overdraft stood at about £3 4). The painting of the stand was in hand, and is progressing satisfactorily. The judge’s box had been moved further back and raised.still higher. Some minor works were required before the Easter meeting, while the course was in excellent order and the buildings now very complete. The report was received as highly satisfactory, pleasure being expressed at the reduction of the debenture debt which carried a heavy burden of interest annually. JNWA RT> COR RICS PONDENOE. From same asking for nomination of District Club representatives to tile Conference.—Received. Mr Evans nominated. . From N.Z. Trotting Association approving of trotting events on Easter programme, and stating Mr G. E. Curry would be the Stipendiary Steward.—Received. From same notifying issue of Volume 111 of the Register.—Received. ...From J. O’Brien, M.P., thanking Club for invitation to Christmas meeting, and regretting circumstances predated att end a n cc.—l * ece i ved. From E. W. Spencer, Reefton, thanking the Club for sympathy expressed in the loss of the mare Piccaninny which lie valued very greatly.— Received. From E. Reed, Upper Riecarton. acknowledging ..receipt of cheque.—Received. From H. C. Newman, accepting positon of Patrol Steward.—Received, and the appointment of Messrs H. Jones, P Lynn, H. C. Newman. 0. J. Thompson and J. J. Mclntosh Jr. as Patrol Stewards was confirmed. From Paterson Michel and Coy. Ltd. donating the free use of winch and plant for the removal of the grand stand.—Received and a vote of thanks passed for the kind assistance. From Groymouth Jockey Club notifying conference of racing and trotting representatives at Orevmouth on Ft idiiv afternoon next to consider circuit of dates for Christmas and Easter.— Received. Mr Evans was appointed delegate, and the dates already selected confirmed, namely Boxing Day, Dec. ■abtli. 1929 and Easter Wednesday and Thursday (April 23rd. and 24th.) 1930. —Received. General matters were discussed and the meeting concluded at 9.30 o clock.
