A DAILY MESSAGE
DON’T FAIL TO RECOGNIZE "HER ! ” Nai’oi.eo.v once said: “The Crown ol Finnco was lying in the mud. T picked it up and placed it on my bead.” Yet many a man in Napoleon’s own set cried, “ Oil, Jbr an opportunity ! ” A whole generation of men bad Napoleon’s opportunity, but only Napoleon seized it. The fact of the matter is that most of us don’t recognize Opportunity when she comes to us, and not all of us know how to entertain her even when we do recognize her. What so often neglected as those opportunities with which every hour of life is crowded ! Somebody' has said : “ Opportunity knocks at your door but once, and comes no more.” > Jn reality Opportunity .knocks at your door every day in the year—looks in at your window every hour of everj day—shoulders you as you pass along the street—speaks to you out of every newspaper you read—sits with you daily as you travel to and from your work—puts her hand on your shoulder as you sit at your desk. If you don’t recognize her, don’t blame her if she goes on her way, for she has tarried many golden moments for you to bid her stay. They do me wrong who say 1 come no more. When once I. knock and fail to find you in, For every day 1 stand outside your door, And hid you wake, and rise, and fight, and win. Wail not for precious chances passed away, Weop not for golden ages on the wane. Each night I burn the records of the day, At sunrise every soul is horn again —M. PRESTON STANLEY.
