While surfing at Bondi beach this afternojii, an unknown man, aged 30, was attacked by a shark, which severed his left log above the knee, and horribly mutilated the other leg from the buttocks to the ankle. The man, ut- V. toring a faint cry, threw up his hands and fought wildly. Members of the Bondi Surf Club heroically dragged him to the beach, where it was seen that be was almost \ beyond aid. He died at St. Vincent’s Hospital a few minutes after admission, from shock and loss of blood. SYDNEY, Feb. 9. (Received flu's day at 8 a.in.) The shark victim was John Gibson, of Excelsior Flats, Bondi, married. His widow is very ill.
