From Internal Affairs Department stating that the suggestions for an open game season would have careful consideration.—Received. From same forwarding Gazette notices in respect to deer stalking season opening on .March Ist.—Received. From same en(|iiiriiig regarding opmi season for opossums.—Received. 'I he .Secretary stated application had been made in September last for a two months’ season in June and July and this had been confirmed last month. ’From same acknowledging Society’s suggestions for opposum open season which would receive careful consideration.—Received., 1 From Otago Society enquiring as to dates for open opossum season in Westland.—Received : and resolved to reply as to the application made for an open season in June and-July. From Southland Society acknowledging order for -ILO.OOO ova for next season.—Received. From North Oanterburv Society acknowledging order for 200.000 ova ; also submitting prices for ova at 2s fid per 1000. Christchurch; and statinsr Canadian geese could now be supplied at £."> per pair: and Paradise Duck at £2 lOs per pair.—Received. It, was resolved to order live pairs of Canadian geese, members offering to trie charge of same. As Paradise dtick are very plentiful in the far south it was resolved not to order tiny. From Chief inspector of Fisheries. Wellington, replying that a recommendation had gone in to continue the supply of quinnat- salmon ova to West- \ land, and stating the "Department was | glad to help with the good work in j hand.—Received with thanks. j From New Zealand Acclimatisation ! Accounts to tlie amount of £7! t)s Id were l passed for payment, including a gratuity of £o os for C. Hotlgkinsnn for services rendered i?i connection with tin* Forbes hut at Landshormigli. The hut is now completed and will he available for the stalking season. GENERAL. Tlie Hatchery Committee was asked to report regarding improvements to the grounds at Lake Kaniori, and also to go into the matter of a permanent Curator and Caretaker. The matter of clearing Muhimpnn Creek of snags was brought forward, and it was resolved to ask Mr S. Bassett for a report as to tie cost considered necessary: also to ask the County Overseer for the report of the cost of a new lauding and approach at Shanghai. It was also decided to draw the attention ot the Harbour Board to the wluteoait trenches in Mnlimapua Creek ccnsiilored dangerous for boating. When the cost of the works for clearing the creek ami providing the binding at Mahimipua are ascertained, it :s pf iposed to apply to the Tourist Department for a vote for the works. Attention was drawn to the gnf-a on Dorothy Falls road at. Hans Bay, and it was decided to ask the owner of the gate to place a notice for the >u-
formation of visitors that the road was public. Owing to the cost of the material, the amount available would mu he sufficient to complete the iietalling. 'the construction of a vehicle lord from the main highway to the Waiho Glacier face was again brought toward. and it was resolved to press this matter on the attention of the Tourist Department a> an urgent work, many people at present owing to the distance to he traversed on foot, 'being debarred from reaching the glacier. The meeting concluded at 9.10 p in.
