FIRE BRIGADES’ DEMONSTRATION
• SPORTS AT LAKE MAHINAPUA. . A meeting presided over by Mr Lynn was held last Tuesday evening in Mt- ; Litosli’s Club Rooms for the purpose of , arranging Aquatic and Athletic Sports , at Luke Mahinapua on M’cdnesday, ; 27th. February (Fire Brigades’ Picnic to the Lake). After the Chairman explained the objects of the meeting a committee was formed and it was decided to hold speed boat racing and athletic sports. Swimming was deleted from the programme owing to the unfavourable conditions existing at the Lake. Dr Buchanan, President of the Lake Kanieri Boating Club stated that his Club would be willing to assist and help the sport along in every way possible. It was decided that for the convenience of the speed boats the jetty at the landing would require repairing. Resolved that the speed l.oat ra< ri start at 1 p.m. and the athletic sports at 3 p.m. Programmes for the sports were then drafted up. The meeting was adjourned until a later date,' when the various officials will lie appointed and oilier general arrangements will be made.
