A BSCOXDER SENTENCED. (Australian Press Association) (United Service.'! (Received this day at 11.25. a.m.) SYDNEY. February 7. At the Quarter Sessions Court, Percy Wynne, aged 14, was sentenced to seven years penal servitude. He had pleaded guilty to five charges of misappropriating money amounting to £2,224 sterling. The police stated Wynne was committed ifor trial in 1924 on a charge of misappropriating £9,00, but absconded from bail and was arrested at Geelong in December last. Seven years is the maximum penalty provided for under the statute. THANKSGIVING FOR RAIN. SYDNEY, February 7. A Berry message states nil business establishments in the town were closed while a thanksgiving service for the bountiful rain was held. Devotional addresses were delivered by ministers of several denominations. TIMBER STRIKERS ANXIOUS. SYDNEY, Feb. 7. With the increasing mistrust in the efficiency of the organisation, strikers involved in the timber industry trouble dispute are anxiously awaiting the result of a special conference of the Australian Council of Trades Union. The strike committee is worried by the possibility of a general strike on the coal fields. It is realised the financial burden of two disputes, each on such an extensive scale, would he more than the trade union movement could support for any length of time.
