FARMERS’ UNION
.MEAT AND DAIRY BOARDS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELDING TON, Feb. 6. At an executve meeting of the Fanners’ Union ,Mr Poison M.P. put forward a suggestion that a change was needed in the appointment of Meat and Dairy Boards. He criticised adversely the allowing of Vestev’s to extend slaughter hoards at Westfield, and said that personally he was not satisfied with the explanation given. Ho was inclined to think Vestevs would not have built an addition if they had not been sure of sympathetic treatment from the Board. The matter was one for the producers. We needed a change in the method of appointing some at least of the members of both meat and dairy hoards, said Mr Poison. who went on to say that he was satisfied a combined board, with half the momlwrs, could advantageously run the whole meat and dairy business. He believed a bulk .of the farmers would support such a reform and the country generally would welcome it. The Chairman might he a well-known impartial business man appointed by Government. The executive went into committee to discuss the subject.
