COAL CRISIS
MOMENTOUS CONFERENCE. (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, Feb. 5. Tlie Federal Council of the Coal Miners assembled at Sydney to-dav. It is regarded as a momentous gathering, in view of the crisis in this in dustrv. The New Zealand delegate from the United Mine Workers of N.Z., Mr E. Lock (of Millerton) was present. The proceedings arc likely to last for a week. Consideration will mainly fbo given to the Federation s policy in the event of a strike occurring. Tt has been decided to issue a quantity of literature regarding the coal owners’ methods, and also statistics upon the cost of production of coil. It has also been decided to send a further request) for the Commonwealth Government to hold an inquiry into the ramifications of the industry. The coal owners of all parts of New •South Wales met again in Sydney today, but they adjourned till next Monday. No statement was issued by them. TROUBLE SETTLED. SYDNEY, Feb. 5. The Port Kembla Power House dispute has been settled. The whole of the four men involved have been reinstated. These were dismissed on January 31st, and their comrade--hold the reason was only a practical joke. ______
