MINISTER OF MINES
Visit OF HON. W. VEITOH. The Hon. W. Yoiteli (Minister oj Mines) and party. whf> went into South Wcstand on Friday morning, returned to Hokitika last evening and this morning moto'Kod to Arthurs Pass en route to Christchurch and will sail for Wellington to-night by the ferry steamer. The Minister had a busy time in South Westland, receiving many deputations and making inspections of various matters brought under his notice. The visit to Well oka had to he abandoned yesterday morning, owing to the Oemoeroa river being in flood and not being fordable. Mr Yeitch expressed his pleasure at the hospitality extended throughout liis visit, and his appreciation of the magnificent scenery throughout the journey, and the bright prospects for the district. On arrival yesterday afternoon a. large deputation from Hunanga waited on the Minister in reference to a mining dispute, and the matter was referred to Mr Kimball (Under-Secretary for Mines) to hold an enquiry at Punanga to-day. 'Hie Ministerial party left by motor about 10 o’clock this morning for Otira.
