ATTEMPT AT DOPING

A brazen attempt to dope a racing greyhound at -Mascot to-day resulted in a stern eha.se and in the capture of a fugitive, who turned out to be V» • Coventry, the owner of another dog. Coventry was disqualified by the coursing authorities for life. Coventry was observed patting a dog named Irish Castle. At the same time lie gave the dog a piece of meat. Ihe owner, who was standing nearby, saw what bad happened, and he made the dog drop the meat, inside of which was a white pill. Coventry ran. but several voices shouted. “Stop that man !” Coventry rail straight into the arms of a course detective.
