BUSH FIRES
MANY HOUSES DESTROYED. (Australian Press Association) (United Service.) (Received this day at 10.30. a.m.) NEWCASTLE, January 31. With the recurrence of hot weather bush fires are raging from (Jostord up to the North Coast. .Much damage has been done. Two houses were destroyed at Melmont and live at Tarcomn, where residents fought all day to preserve their homes. Fires are responsible for the terrific lient thoughout the northern district and at least one death has resulted. Thomas Cook, aged 19, collapsed and died at Kearsley. Mush fires threaten to destroy the Uosl'ord racecourse.
