.Samoa. “Perhaps, as a Polynesian myself, I may err on the side of generosity, but I am. hoping that New Zealand, which has such a fine record in its association with the Maori, will reconsider its Samoan policy of deportation, the denuding of native chiefs of their hereditary titles, and the failure to grant real representation to the ha moan taxpayer. We cannot progress without works, which mean taxation, and this is realised by the Samoans.
