AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. BANKING CORPORATION, LTD. AUCKLAND, January 29. The Sydney correspondent of the “ Herald ” writes: “ A few weeks ago an announcement a'ppeared in the financial columns of Sydney newspapers that the Australian and New Zealand Ranking Corporation Limited had been registered with an office in Sydney. If was stated that the nominal capital of the company was tt0.000,000 in Cl shares, and that the subscribers were 11. L. Wliittcll, W. Archer. IT. C. Baguio. K. IV. Hamilton, F. J. Randell, Irene M. Kirkley, and C. Hayes. Many enquiries as to this now corporation have been received from New Zealand. Sydney financial circles at present have no knowledge of the concern beyond the fact that registration has been made and that all the necessary formalities have been complied with. “The secretary of the concern is J. T. Davis, of the firm of Davis, Egan, and Co., accountants, of Castlcreagli street, Sydney. None of the subscribers is known in financial circles. Davis will make no statement other than that ‘All the necessary information will be given in the prospectus to be issued shortly.’ He added, as be dismissed the enquirer. ‘You must wait till then.’ •• The secretary of the Associated Stock Exchanges of New Zealand has applied to the secretary of the Sydney Stock Exchange for information but the latter says lie has no information to give, being in the dark.
