AUCKLAND, Jan. 20. Herbert John Adams, snglc, aged 29, was drowned on the West Coast today. While bathing near the mouth of the Waitakere River, lie swam out to warn others who, he thought, wore too far out. On returning, Adams became exhausted, and he was unable to regain the beach. Two men went to his rescue, but they became exhausted in the breakers, and had to abandon the attempt. The body has not been recovered. Adams had no relatives in Lite Dominion.
